Tribute to Dr. Maya Angelou

“People will forget what you said and did, but never how you made them feel”

–Dr. Maya Angelou.

A good friend of mine from North Carolina once said this to me when I was having dark days in DC. At the time I thought it was his words of wisdom. But when I discovered that it was hers, I saw where the circle of caring began. Thank you Dr. Maya Angelou for passing the message along to my friend. I don’t know what where I would be if my friend didn’t pass along your message. I carry this every time I speak and interact with people. #thankyou #mayaangelou #love #life #caring #blackisbeautiful #mentor #dc #friends #compassion

ThrowBack Thursday: Paul Sullivan, The Taxi Cab Cowboy

Every Thursday I post a miscellaneous blog/article/post that I’ve written in the past or an interview of an extraordinary individual.

This week’s Throwback Thursday edition: Paul Sullivan, The Taxi Cab Cowboy

577110_232976286840536_748450413_n

I wrote this post to promote my good friend, Paul Sullivan, and his new CD album “A Long Time Comin”. I met the “Taxi Cab Cowboy,” on the night of my birthday (April 30th) last year, when I was looking for a ride home. Not only is he one of the kindest taxi cab drivers in Boston but the most original musicians I’ve heard.

His music is “real” and “bold”; the first words that came to my mind when I listened to his music on the way to my first my Zydeco event. His music is deeply rooted in country and blues which makes it easy for anyone to distinguish if his music is “real” or “watered-down.”

I am pleased to say now that Paul is finishing up his new CD and will have it published in 6-8 weeks, if not sooner.

Prince in The City’s Twitter Questions Answered

20140521-123311-45191485.jpg

During my interview with extraordinary professionals, I take questions from the Twitterverse for my guest to answer. On this show I invited Jeff McCormick, Independent Candidate for Governor of Massachusetts, to answer a few questions. Here is one question I pulled from Twitterverse.

To Matt: From my conversation with Mr. Jeff McCormick, he says that he recognizes and understands the constant evolution of technology and jobs. Furthermore he points out that technology back in the 80s would not match the jobs of today. However, the way to solve this problem is to assess what the needs are in the private sector. And once you asses that, then you need to collect that information and distribute it to all institutions that need it such as colleges and universities. From there we will have constant feedback between schools and businesses–a lot of which can happen at the state level, he says.

Thank you Matt for tweeting your question to me! Jeff sends his regards and gratitude for your question.

If you wish to contact Jeff McCormick’s campaign for clarification or ask more questions like this one, go to www.jmacforgov.org
