Prince in The City’s Twitter Questions Answered

20140521-123311-45191485.jpg

During my interview with extraordinary professionals, I take questions from the Twitterverse for my guest to answer. On this show I invited Jeff McCormick, Independent Candidate for Governor of Massachusetts, to answer a few questions. Here is one question I pulled from Twitterverse.

To Matt: From my conversation with Mr. Jeff McCormick, he says that he recognizes and understands the constant evolution of technology and jobs. Furthermore he points out that technology back in the 80s would not match the jobs of today. However, the way to solve this problem is to assess what the needs are in the private sector. And once you asses that, then you need to collect that information and distribute it to all institutions that need it such as colleges and universities. From there we will have constant feedback between schools and businesses–a lot of which can happen at the state level, he says.

Thank you Matt for tweeting your question to me! Jeff sends his regards and gratitude for your question.

Weekly Spiritual Digest: Don’t Copy The World; Transform Yourself Through God

a415f988ba2affd4a8ec0ee0b7653045

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. (Romans 12:2 NLT)

Be Yourself! And remember to always seek guidance from God.

I find this particular verse pleasing because of what God has done for me in my life recently. Ever since I have dedicated myself to God & His teachings, I have observed just how terrible and deceitful the world can be. Before God transformed me into a new person, I was forced to conform to the world because I believed it was the only way to garner success. However, looking back from where I was two years ago to where I am today, I am proud to say that I have found peace and success through God.

Pursuing God’s customs and behaviors (respecting and honoring your parents; loving your neighbor as thine self), and not the customs and behaviors of the world, has allowed to me garner the peace and success that I have always wanted. There is peace in submitting to God.

So my advice to anyone who asks is this: do not watch television. True Reality is outside the (TV) box. Do not believe what you watch and don’t copy their ways of seeking happiness and peace. Instead keep God’s commandments near your heart; refer to the Bible when you are lost; and enjoy life according HIM! In the great words of Bob Marley,

Wake up and Live!

Prince In The City Show: Racism in Sports

Prince in the city

Prince Sefa-Boakye, host of the Prince In The City Show, talks about Racism in Sports

On each and every show I don’t just provide you news in the City, but current events around the world–and how they impact you and the world around you. And on this special segment, I talk about the Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling and his recent racist remarks towards African Americans.

donald-sterling-e1398707406808Donald Sterling, known today as the ex-NBA owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, was banned for life from the NBA over his racist comments towards “black people” in a secretly taped telephone conversation between him and his alleged mistress V Stivianno (which broke out during the weekend on April 25, 2014). On my show I was not only able to play a small clip of the actual telephone conversation, but learn “The Business Side of Sports” with the help of co-host Nathan Roman to comment on the effects in the NBA League.

So instead of talking about politics, I had Nathan and Lauren Culp (executive producer of UR Business Network) share their thoughts on the whole scandal.

Nathan tells me that Donald Sterling will in indeed suffer severe consequences from the NBA League–although he is worth $1.9 billion. Furthermore he says that Sterling will have to be forced out of the league because he has threatened NBA’s biggest sponsor: Budweiser!–and sponsors have already suspended and/or temporarily ended their sponsorships with the LA Clippers.

Mark Cuban, owner of the Mavericks and creator of Shark Tank, has already expressed a deep concern in expelling Don Sterling from the league–even though he is disgusted with his remarks. He says that punishing him for his personal views puts the NBA League on a “very slippery slippery slope”; he says that “in this country people are allowed to be morons.” However in the end, the NBA League did in fact ban him for life and now the next step is to have Sterling sell his team–and find a possible buyer in the near future.

Lauren, on the other hand, (who was also kind enough to share her thoughts, opinions, and an update on the whole scandal) says that our freedom of speech is no longer safe in the hands of social media. While she is disgusted and appalled that people today can make such hateful speech, she is reluctant to see the power of media–and how fast it can dismantle the First Amendment.

From a political standpoint, I say this

“You do have the right to voice your views. But you also have the option to harbor them too, which is quite scary because you don’t know how many people like Don Sterling are out there (in the U.S) who share these same hateful and hurtful views towards African Americans.”

Thank you Nathan and Lauren for your great insight and opinions.

This week’s Throwback Thursday edition: The IRS, A New Face to Jim Crow

943701_10200725607998063_2140817292_n

I wrote this political report exactly one year ago today in lieu of the IRS scandal, which the IRS discriminated against multiple tea party groups in their struggle to gain “tax exemption” status. The purpose behind this was to educate my audience on how the same tactics used by the IRS (to discriminate against the Tea Party) also resembled the same tactics used against African Americans in their struggle to gain a crucial right from the U.S. Constitution: The Right To Vote. And how it took 100 years to gain this right, versus 2-4 years to gain “tax exemption” status from the IRS. We may come from different walks of life, but we all experience the same hardships
