Weekly Political Report: Opening Obama’s {Pandora’s} Box

Every week I write a political issue that affects YOU and THE WORLD around you.

This week’s political report: The Obamacare Fallout

With little or no surprise, nobody would have expected the enormous (technical) chaos that Obama’s Box (healthcare.gov) would bring, since the opening of its exchanges on Oct. 1st–Obama’s landmark legislation: Obamacare. With five weeks already into it, after just getting over the government shutdown, the Obama administration is now racing against time to fix its site before the end of this month: Nov. 30th.

While Republicans are having a field day with healthcare.gov‘s failures in providing Obamacare to its constituents, Democrats are now treading carefully, more than ever, behind Obama. Reason being that if the site is not fixed soon, some Democrats have stated that they will act to delay the requirement that most Americans carry health insurance in 2014 or pay a penalty.

I can honestly profess that this technical malfunction will not harm the American People, except for their time and patience. This legislation is already set in place and people have benefited from it (take Massachusetts); before the website fall out. However, the true harm spawns from the media. The more the media paints Obamacare as “failing” the more they can change public perception, which will then take us back to the same mess that we experienced beforehand: a government shutdown to Repeal Obamacare.

Obamacare is already signed into law; the Supreme Court has approved it as constitutional; and, the American people that have Obamacare are already benefitting from it like Massachusetts. It would be unwise to force another government shutdown because of the technical fallout from healthcare.gov.

Top Senior Democrat, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), has told the press that she directly spoke to the chief of staff, from the Obama Administration, that shutting down its site will help resolve its difficulties, however, Denis McDonough, the chief of staff, has decided that keeping the site open would allow more “complete” improvements; he considered all options before making this decision. The director of the Office of Management and Budget, Jeffrey Zients, who was assigned to oversee this repair effort, believes that the administration is on track to hit the deadline; but has warned that there will likely be more unforeseen setbacks on the way.

Overall, the media has done a fine job of painting Obama’s health legislation as a “bad thing” for the American public–characterizing it as a “failure”–but Obama’s health legislation has shown positive impacts in the lives of many Americans who have it. And so, the war between the Obama Administration and the GOP (The Republican Party), to win the hearts and minds of the American People, through the air waves, still rages on.

How does this affect You and The World Around You?

–Constant Radio and TV advertisements to tear down and uphold Obamacare.

–Continual difficulties for Americans who are trying to register of healthcare insurance via Internet.

–Democrats may delay the requirement that most Americans carry for 2014 or pay a penalty, if heallthcare.gov is not fixed by Nov. 30th.

–The controversy behind “Americans can keep their insurances” will continue.
