The Lamp of the Body
“No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house. “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.” (Luke 11:33-36 NLT)
The Lamp Of The Body is a great reminder to us all of how important
our lamps [spirits] are; and how important it is keep our eyes clean from the filth of darkness.
We are the lamps that provide the world light but when our light is bad, the whole world becomes pitch black.
As hard as it is to not let our lamps turn dark when our eyes see evil or injustice, nevertheless we must remind ourselves to not give into darkness and instead be bright lights to the world, so it won’t fall into darkness.
So let us continue to provide light for the world, even though the world will continue to illuminate darkness. Dont be afraid of your light because you are powerful beyond measure. Fight off the darkness with light by keeping our eyes clean.
